Guarding the Door

imagesToday went far beyond the “end of the year crazy”.” Today went far beyond the “seniors are so out of here.” Soon after I got set up in the class to begin the day, it all went bad. School bells would not be ringing today to minimize interruptions in testing. I get it. We would not be on the class scheduled that was set last Friday – nor the schedule of Saturday’s e-mail, but a new schedule that only some believed we were actually on – ???. I get it. The intercom did not work in the Blackbox so any changes would never be known. I get it. The janitors did not, for the fiftieth time, NOT come in to sweep or mop. I get it. The room smells. I get it. The lunchtime meeting is going to happen but at a different time – – no, later e-mail says that this meeting will not be happening as the leader of the meeting will not be meeting. I get it. But, let’s go ahead and have a meeting anyway – with anyone interested in coming – because this meeting really does need to meet. I get it. Juries are going to happen or are they – – and where do all the chickens NOT jurying go? Easily solved – I get it.

Hour by hour, student by student, schedule by schedule. It just snowballed. Truly I am not one to complain about “oh, the work” or “oh, the sad life of a teacher” or “oh, the unappreciated teacher.” I am not one to complain, but I am one to guard the door. How can I stop the crazy roaming the hall and do just a dash of teaching today? Not so easy. I get it.

But we somehow still managed to have a meaningful session of viewpoints! Best part of my day by far.

This either says something pretty wonderful about Viewpoints or something pretty sad about the rest of your day. Either way it is a win/win for Company!
